They have one sail, a wide hull and a distinct look. The old sepia reference photo I used, was from a Jersey Shore history, souvenir book. These boats were used to bring folks across the bay to the ocean beaches before causeway bridges were built. I think about how people packed up to head to the shore back then. How we do it today and the excitement we feel when you finally reach the bridge. Back then their final leg was a sail in a catboat.
